In February 2017, Narodowy Bank Polski will be putting into circulation a banknote with a face value of 500 zloty.
It has been designed by Andrzej Heidrich. The colour scheme is blue, greyish brown and bordeaux.
On the front side of the banknote is the image of John III Sobieski taken from his coronation medallion. To the right of the image of the ruler is a lobster-tailed pot helmet which symbolises his military achievements.
On the reverse side of the banknote there is an image of an eagle and, in the background, is an image of the Wilanow Palace.
The introduction of the 500 zloty banknote is in response to the needs of the market. Presently, the largest note in circulation in Poland is the 200 zloty note.
