The Bank of Canada published a picture of bills donning signature of newly installed senior deputy governor Carolyn Wilkins.
Ms. Wilkins is the SDG of the Bank of Canada for a term of seven years beginning 2 May 2014. She replaced senior deputy Tiff Macklem, who left the bank May 1 to become head of the University of Toronto’s business school.
She is the first woman to hold the No. 2 position at the central bank and also she is the first woman to sign a canadian banknote.
Carolyn Wilkins’ signature has already been engraved on $20 plates. Sheets of $20 notes with the Wilkins (SDG) – Poloz (Governor) signature combination have already been printed and the new $20 notes should be in circulation in a few months.
